St Thomas More School & Sixth Form College Website
My first point this week is to bring to your attention a meeting for any of you who would like further information about the school's plans to form a Multi Academy Company with a group of our main primary feeders. The schools have been working closely together for many months now at different levels with a view to improving provision for all our children and the formalisation of the process is underway with a view to conversion on the 1st March. There will be an opportunity for you to hear more details about the plans in the school hall on Wednesday 11th February at 6pm.
We are planning in the coming weeks in school to raise pupils' game in terms of polite and courteous language between themselves and towards adults. Visitors to the school frequently mention to me how impressed they are with the general standard of politeness and manners among our students and this is a source of pride for us. However, the increase in casual language which is encouraged by television and social media means that they sometimes forget to use the preferred words such as "pardon?" rather than "what?" Frequent use of "excuse me", "please" and "thank you" speaks volumes about a person so we will be highlighting the importance of these courtesies in assemblies and form time. Do please join in at home!
We have been fortunate with the weather so far this winter. Please remember that we always make every effort to keep the school open and to inform parents as promptly as possible if we have to close. If some very bad weather occurs please try to avoid arriving at school unannounced to ask to take your children home because dealing with these arrivals often prevents us from responding efficiently and promptly.
I wish you all a pleasant weekend
