A message from the Headteacher
Last Sunday I was fortunate enough to watch one of our Year 13 students, Clare Bracken, participate in a Catenians public speaking competition against students as far away as Nottingham and Peterborough. She performed very well indeed and finished a close second. Her subject was whether you can always believe what is written in the newspapers! We have an active debating society in the Sixth Form at which Clare and others are developing their public speaking and presentation skills. The judges were drawn from a variety of backgrounds including education, law and the media.
I also received a letter this week informing me of the selection of Adam Przybeck 9MS for the under-15 Wales squad for a forthcoming fixture versus Poland. And Emma Rickets who joined our Sixth Form in Year 12 recently came second in a vote for the Warwickshire Young Sportswoman of the Year for her excellent achievements in canoeing at international level. Very well done to both students. I spoke to a number of Year 7 boys who were disappointed by their semi-final defeat this week in the Warwickshire Cup. But in keeping with our push in school this year about developing growth mind sets I told them to try to learn from the experience and to bounce back stronger next year. Good luck also to Year 10 and 11 boys for their forthcoming cup matches.
Last night’s Year 7 parents evening was very positive with 93% attendance which is excellent. It made me reflect on how quickly time passes because yesterday Year 11 had their official end of main school photograph as a year group. The message to the pupils is certainly to get involved in as many school events as you can during your time here.
I wish you all a pleasant weekend.
